The Massachusetts Chapter is thrilled to have received an Innovative Project Award at the Surfrider Foundation's 2019 National Summit in Irvine, CA! The recognition is for our annual STOKEE (Surfing To Offer Kids Environmental Education) event, which will be celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2020.
The success of STOKEE over the years has relied on not just the event organizers, but also on the hard work many in-water and dry-land volunteers, the generosity of local surf and pizza shops, as well our long partnership with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Massachusetts Bay. Together, we've been able to introduce many kids who otherwise might not have the opportunity to the 'STOKE' of enjoying and protecting our ocean and waves.
