The Bureau for Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) is holding a series of public open houses across the country to gather public feedback about the Trump Administration’s new National Outer Continental Shelf Plan for 2019-2024.
Click here to learn more about the Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts Chapter’s opposition to this plan.
This plan seeks to open up over 90% of the US Continental Shelf to offshore oil drilling and exploration, including broad swathes of the Alaska, Pacific, and Atlantic Coasts where such activities had previously been prohibited.
This puts our nation’s coastal communities, beaches, and surf breaks – including those in Massachusetts – at risk for oil spills, destructive seismic surveys, and both economic and environmental decimation.
Please join the Surfrider Foundation MA Chapter in attending the Boston Open House to share your concerns and voice your opposition to this vast expansion of offshore oil drilling!
Surfrider and other local partners are organizing a rally to protest against the proposed expansion of offshore drilling to New England waters. The rally will take place in conjunction with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management’s Open House on this topic at the same venue.
