We're sharing this event report from John, our long-time and now outgoing coordinator for Surfrider MA's annual Snowrider event. We're very grateful for all the work you've done, John, and will keep spreading the Snowrider message in the future!
On Saturday February 2nd, 2019, the Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts Chapter took its message of protecting our oceans a few miles inland to our annual Snowrider event at the Blue Hills Ski Area.
Each year, we educate snowboarders and skiers that polluting our hills and snow causes harm not only inland, but also downstream in the ocean. Snowmelt, runoff, and rain can and will transport pollution from the mountains into our rivers and ocean. As we at Surfrider like to say, "What Starts Up Here, Ends Up Down There ".
Many thanks go out to our volunteers Jess and Mark, who actively talked with Blue Hills customers, adding several of them to our mailing list. We also offered Surfrider stickers and license plate frames for sale. (Give us a shout if you want one, but haven't had the chance to snag some yet!)
Thanks also to Molly and Kelsey at Blue Hills, who, along with their fellow staff members, have been gracious hosts to Snowrider for several years. This is John's final year as Snowrider coordinator, but he will continue to volunteer at the event in the future as Jess takes over the reins as the new Snowrider coordinator!
