The Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts Chapter is deeply grateful and honored to be the recipient of donations from Present Tense Prize Winner and local artist Rebecca McGee Tuck's solo exhibition Along the Wrack Line, showing at ArtsWorcester from December 3, 2020 to February 14, 2021.

Rebecca's sculptural works for this exhibition are largely made from marine debris collected from area beaches, including and especially Humarock Beach in Scituate. Through her art, Rebecca tells a story using the abandoned things from our disposable culture, while at the same time giving new life to these found objects.

We are absolutely thrilled to recognize the common threads that our work shares with Rebecca's. The Surfrider MA Chapter's mission is to protect and enjoy our ocean, waves, and beaches for all people through public education, advocacy, and outreach. Like Rebecca, we have found that beach cleanups are one of the most powerful tools for helping the public experience the marine debris problem firsthand. These events allow people to participate tangibly in improving their local coastline, while inspiring many to work towards bigger picture changes and solutions.

As a local organization making a difference in the fight against marine debris and plastic pollution, we deeply appreciate that Rebecca connected with us about providing fans and visitors a way to contribute to our work during her exhibition. Generous financial and material support like this from our friends and members provides critical resources for the entirely volunteer-run Surfrider Foundation Massachusetts Chapter.

Along the Wrack Line is on display at ArtsWorcester's East Gallery, located at 44 Portland Street, Worcester, MA. Gallery hours are Thursday to Sunday, 12-5 PM. Visitors (limited to 7 at any time) are required to reserve a free, forty-five minute time-slot in advance on Eventbrite before entering the galleries. Gallery visitors are required to wear a mask or face covering before visiting ArtsWorcester.

If you aren't able to make the show in person, you can still check out the informal gallery video tour recorded by Rebecca on Opening Day, or this featured artist interview with ArtsWorcester.
